I want to hear that people no longer see themselves as victims, that they understand the link between the present moment and past choices, which are linked to the lessons they came here to learn. I want to hear how they have become more mindful, which led them down the path they were meant to take. I want to hear people tell me that they want to live if they've struggled with wanting to die. I want to hear that the rage they once clung to for dear life has served its purpose through self-preservation. I want to hear that they no longer blame and hate because they finally understand the Why. I want to hear people express gratitude for the insights, growth, and a deep sense of self love and appreciation for the gifts received from their most painful experiences. I want to hear their excitement after discovering their true values, and how they tie into life purpose.

I want my memoir to help people think differently about their trauma and suffering, particularly those who feel continuously victimized by life.

YESSS!!! Thank you for explaining the main goals with cover design. You did a great job explaining it. As a cover designer I try explaining this to my clients as well. I will add, yes "easy to read" for the title but also the visuals need to be "easy to understand." When you start combining too many visuals and too many concepts the cover can become cluttered and start to look like a cut and paste collage. A lot of times our first ideas are very surface level and can be pushed further. It's ok to let go of our initial ideas, especially when they are not working. That's part of the process is seeing how they look, from idea to paper. Your designer is the visual communicator. Let your designer help you brainstorm other visuals and moods that can communicate the same message but in a clear and simple way. There's a lot we can do with colors, fonts and style to communicate the message that are often overlooked.
